Not all who wander are lost

I wish I knew then
What I know now
Wouldn’t dive in
Wouldn’t bow down
Gravity hurts
You made it so sweet
Till I woke up on
On the concrete

I dig this tune, and it’s Memorial Day weekend!!  Time to get ready to shop. >:D

Fit Teacher Challenge Update

Eeps!  School is almost over and I failed to workout last week due to an incredibly busy schedule.

-8th grade graduation planning and completion
-Technology inventory and computer clean up
-Homework/Observations for grad school
-BFF wedding drama
-Talent show planning for the last week of school
-Robotics team meeting and end of the year clean up of legos (this was just crazy!)
-Everything else

Things are winding down now, and I’ve rekindled my work out regiment and diet, however, I’ve been such a grouch since my intake is only 1000 calories a day.  It’s paying off in that I’ve lost a good 15 lbs., but sheesh to being hungry.  I feel like Charles Barkley in that SNL weight watchers monologue, “I am so hungry, I am starving!”  :-/  I think I should allow myself one chicken wing day a week to regroup and remain sane.  Fair enough?  I think so.

Thank goodness for chicken.

‘Live each day as if it’s your last’, that was the conventional advice, but really, who had the energy for that? What if it rained or you felt a bit glandy? It just wasn’t practical. Better by far to simply try and be good and courageous and bold and to make a difference. Not change the world exactly, but the bit around you…. Cherish your friends, stay true to your principles, live passionately and fully and well. Experience new things. Love and be loved, if you ever get the chance.

Fit Teacher Challenge

What a fantastic idea!  I’ve been working on my muscle endurance with some boxing classes, so before the end of the school year I challenging myself to:

-Stick to the 1000 calories a day diet recommended by my doc for the rest of the month
-Work out at least 30 minutes on days I’m not in the boxing class (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
-Go to sleep by 11pm for adequate rest
-Stay hydrated by drinking 2 liters a day (I tend to drink 1.5, and apparently it’s not enough)

My goal is to lose fat and gain muscle because I’ve gained a lot this year with my grad classes, teaching job, mentoring and curriculum planning.  Sometimes there’s not enough time in the day, but since I’ve got a short break between now and summer for grad school, I’ll do it!  The boxing is also helping my stress levels flatline so that’s a huge A+ in my book!  No more stress!
